Peter Dixon

Peter Dixon has been working in the field of child rights for almost 20 years, as a Save the Children director in Nepal and Sri Lanka, and more recently as an independent International Development Consultant specialising in children's rights and child rights based approaches.

When I look back at my contact with Concerned for Working Children as Save the Children Norway’s Nepal Country Representative in the late 90s I remember a period of stimulation and learning .. for myself as an individual, and for those who came into contact with their work. When most organisations were just starting on the path to making a reality of children’s right to be heard CWC was not only practicing, but taking the time to share, to demonstrate and to constructively engage with others to achieve change for children. As an organisation I remember them for having achieved a real partnership with the children of Karnataka, for their innovative research, and for their proactive engagement with progressing children’s rights not just locally but internationally. I think I’ve probably made reference to some learning from CWC’s work in just about every course I’ve delivered. Of all of the very many NGOs I have met over the years CWC stands out and its very appropriate to hear that they have been nominated for the Peace Prize. Nandana, Kavita, and all your colleagues at CWC .. you deserve the nomination .. massive congratulations .. and long may you continue.
